Our training offer specifically for public bodies and partnerships is designed to support staff to understand the broad policy trends and objectives around community participation in public services, and the key legislative requirements central to this approach.

Community engagement

Community engagement is a crucial to how public bodies forge relationships with community organisations, and remains a key part of ongoing public service reform and inclusive growth.

This training will meet the needs of engagement practitioners to apply high-quality engagement tools and techniques to their practice.

Co-production

Co-production is increasingly recognised as a important way to deliver public services in a way that sees long term positive outcomes for people and for local communities.  

In this training you will learn about how co-production works, the key methods for delivery and how to build it into to your strategic planning.

Community empowerment

The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 aims to empower community bodies by strengthening their voices in the decisions that matter to them.  

This training will explore the key legislative requirements of the Act, and other related legislation that supports community empowerment, as part of the developing policy and practice landscape.

Community development

Community development is a process where communities come together to take action on the issues important to them.

This training will explore the role public bodies play in supporting community development, providing practical knowledge and tools to help deliver this approach with your communities.

Building stronger communities

Supporting community organisations to take a leading role in the development of their communities is a key part of the empowerment agenda.

In this training you will explore the role public bodies play in building community capacity, and be introduced to a practical tool to support this work.

Community action planning and Local Place Plans

Community-led plans are an increasingly common feature of the planning landscape, and public bodies are key to understanding and supporting community priorities.

This training will explore how these different plans work, and the role public agencies play in their development and delivery.

Health inequalities and community-led health

Scotland is facing a health inequalities crisis, with falling life expectancy and other health outcomes that require us to take different approaches.

This training will explore how public bodies can play a key part in tackling these inequalities using key competencies to explore how a community-led approach can support healthy communities. 

Community-led action research

Community-led action research is a process where the community decides on an issue to be researched, designs and carries out the research, and makes use of the results. 

In this training, you’ll learn about the core values of this approach, explore some key tools and resource, and understand the role public bodies play in embedding this approach.

Our training levels

Our public body training offer scales to your team’s needs and confidence. As part of this, we will help you to take stock of your situation, discuss what training outcomes you’re looking to achieve and help you to make the most out of the time and resources available. 

From there, we’ll bring together a training programme and agree with you what the session will look like. We can come to you, host up to 15 people in our offices in Glasgow, or deliver online via Teams or Zoom.

Our clear pricing includes all preparation, materials and follow up from our experienced team. We offer different levels of training to suit your team’s learning outcomes, and current knowledge and skills. 

Our training is based on one trainer delivering to a set number of participants to ensure each session remains participative and engaging. If you’re looking to include additional participants then an additional fee based on the delivery time will be applied.
