During 2021 and 2022, West Dunbartonshire Council is reviewing how it helps Community Councils to represent people’s views on the issues that affect their lives.

The Council’s existing 2015 Scheme For the Establishment of Community Councils sets out how Community Councils work, how they are supported and how people can participate in them.  A new Scheme is being prepared through the current review.

This is the third stage of public consultation in the review, following stages 1 and 2 in Spring and Autumn 2021 respectively.  You can read more about the review as a whole here.

This third stage of consultation asks for your views on the various elements of the finalised draft Scheme.

The Community Councils Handbook (to accompany the formal Scheme) is subject to separate discussion with stakeholders.

If you wish to comment on the consultation documents, please email empowerment@west-dunbarton.gov.uk by 5th April 2022.

Please note that the boundary changes takes you to a separate online survey.  If you complete that survey, there is no need to email your comments on the boundary changes as well.

If you would like paper copies of any of these documents, please call Suzanne Mason by email at Suzanne.Mason@west-dunbarton.gov.uk.

The consultation will close on 5th April 2022.  After the consultation closes, the final version of the Scheme documents will then be prepared in the light of comments received, and presented to a special meeting of West Dunbartonshire Council for approval on 25 May 2022.
