Get with the plan - parliamentary inquiry into community planning
/Find out how you can participate in the Scottish Parliament’s inquiry into part 2 of the Community Empowerment Act on community planning.
The Community Empowerment Act 2015 included new provisions designed to give communities a much greater say in how services are planned, delivered and evaluated in their areas to deal with the issues and challenges that local people face. This included being part of local planning processes to shape things done locally to improve the lives of local people.
The Act is being reviewed this year and the Scottish Parliament’s Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee is continuing its scrutiny of it by running an inquiry into part two of Act on Community Planning .
We encourage communities, in the spirit of empowerment, to make their voices heard in terms of how the process is meeting needs so far and to suggest how it could be strengthened in future. Views are being gathered using surveys of community planning partners, communities and local people.
SCDC will be submitting our own evidence and helping to host some conversations as part of the inquiry. We will circulate information about these at a later date.
In the meantime click here for information on the process.
