Embedding Community-led action research – Discussion event
/Monday 23rd September 2024, 1.30pm – 3pm, online on Zoom
This online roundtable event will bring together colleagues from across the UK to explore how we can continue to build the momentum for community-led action research, and what we need to do to embed this approach into how real change happens in communities.
Community-led action research is a way for communities to take action on the issues important to them. It prioritises community knowledge, shifting the power balance towards lived experience and the issues important to people in communities.
Earlier this year we brought people together in Glasgow, and now we want to build on that enthusiasm, shared vision and momentum. At this event we will:
Explore what practical steps we can undertake to embed community-led action research into how real change happens in communities.
Set out solutions to the challenges around offering robust evidence of success, and the need for consistent resources and capacity building.
Collectively promote a clear understanding of the potential for this approach, and help achieve wider adoption and support by a range of stakeholders.
We're also delighted to be joined by some excellent organisations who will offer their insights and unique perspectives:
The Young Foundation, who will offer their experience around how they seek to influence policy and practice in research.
British Science Association will explore their experience around supporting greater community involvement in research.
Our aim is to facilitate this discussion using participative online methods and bring together your ideas, thoughts and proposed actions to inform a collective approach to supporting community-led action research moving forward.
